From Titleist Research & Development; at 22,000 frames-per-second, this video (below) shows the moment of impact set at 4 swing speeds. From this we learn the mechanics of how the ball impacts the club and how that translates into spin, speed and launch angle. The speeds tested are:
- 175 mph
- 160 mph
- 135 mph
- 120 mph
The most interesting part of this is little difference at impact, if any at all. The question is what does impact look like at speeds closer to the average golfer; 105+ mph, 95-105 mph and below 95 mph.
